"Bird in Head" new works by C.Lynn Tegenfeldt August 5-28th 2010

Bird In Head
Oil Paintings by C.Lynn Tegenfeldt

Artist Reception: Saturday August 21, 5:00 – 9:00pm
New work by local abstract expressionist artist C.Lynn Tegenfeldt. Ms. Tegenfedlt’s new body of work is an exciting collection of color on canvas.

Going back to her art origins of photography, C.Lynn starts with an original digital photograph and then deconstructs the image by mixing the color channels in a digital computer program. She extracts the hardness of the line by blending the pixels. She calls this process her inner GUERRILLA. The manipulated image becomes her sketch for her painting. From one “sketch” she paints several paintings with variations in color and composition creating a progression of large format paintings.
This present body of work is a progression from an art show Ms. Tegenfeldt had with David Rivas in 2006 at the Ventura Artist Union Gallery titled “Clash of Colors”. All of the new pieces, which are variations on a common thread, were painted with oil on canvas and are large in format.

Art Exhibit Dates: August 5 - 28, 2010
Opening Reception on First Friday: August 6, 5:00 – 9:00 pm
Artist Reception: Saturday August 21, 5:00 – 9:00pm

New Work by Sandra McCullough~ Pink & Orange July 8th-31st

New Exhibit
“Pink & Orange”
Sandra McCullough
Artist Reception July 10th 5-9pm

Gallery 255 will be exhibiting new work by Sandra McCullough one of the resident artists of the Sea Breeze Art Studios which she also founded in 2004.   Ms. McCullough’s new work is a series of oil paintings.  She has developed a unique surface of burlap and textured plaster on top of wood panel boxes. Her palette is in shades of pink and orange that is reminiscent of sherbet.  One of the intrigues of this body of work is the juxtaposition of physical raw ingredients of wood, burlap and plaster to the sumptuous use of oil paint color.

In May 2004, as Owner/Founder, Sandra started Sea Breeze Art Studios and Gallery 255 (formerly Sea Breeze Art Gallery) in a dirty warehouse on Laurel Street from the ground up.  While maintaining her full time artist studio and with her innate appreciation of dynamic artistic talent, Sandra has built a successful creative community within Sea Breeze Art Studios.  Gallery 255 has also become successful as a selling contemporary art venue for artists whose exhibits rotate every four weeks.

Sandra McCullough has been creating art for over 50 years. With an adventurous personality, an entrepreneurial spirit and an interesting background, she continues to articulate those assets and her love of color in her artwork.

"Impressions" new works by Stacie Logue June 10-July 3rd 2010

Gallery 255 will be exhibiting new work by Stacie Logue one of the resident artists of
Sea Breeze Art Studios.
Ms. Logue’s new work is a series of ceramic plaques. She has found a way to blend her love of textiles with clay. After discovering clay in college, she received a bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in ceramic art from Cal State Los Angeles. She has also worked many years in the apparel industry and most recently as a costumer. While looking for inspiration she started pressing burlap and lace in to slabs of clay to create textures. Then draping the clay over different forms she made the clay fold like fabric.
Ms. Logue has developed a visual vocabulary in ceramics that is unique and recognizable.

“Impressions” runs June 10 – July 3, 2010.
The opening artist reception will be held on Saturday June 12 from 5:00-8:00pm.
